The Royal Cheshire County Show
Held annually in nearby Tabley, the show holds many competition classes for cattle, sheep, pigs, and dairy goats, as well as hundreds of classes for light and heavy horses, show jumping, rare breeds of livestock, poultry, pygmy goats, pigeons, cavies, rabbits and a dog show.
Carfest, Bolesworth Castle
One of Cheshire’s biggest events of the year, Carfest, is a spectacular annual event full of fun-packed family fun.
The event not only showcases some of the best and most interesting motors, there’s also live music, displays, stunts and activities for all to enjoy. The event donates some of its proceeds to the BBC’s Children in Need charity, raising over £6.7million in the last four years.
Gold Cup Meeting, Oulton Park
Some of the finest racing cars from the past 70 years of the sport roll back time and take to the track at Oulton Park over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Macdonald Portal Golf (1 mile)

Oulton Park (3 miles)
For more than 60 years, Oulton Park racing circuit has gathered a reputation as the country's toughest test for both car and driver.
Oulton Park's combination of stunning scenery and spectacular racing make it one of the most picturesque and best-loved circuits for spectators and competitors alike, hosting events such as the British Touring Car Championship, two rounds of the British Superbike Championship and the ever popular British GT/F4 event.

Delamere Forest (8 miles)
Located just outside Tarporley in the heart of the Cheshire Plain, Delamere Forest is the largest woodland in the county. From walking trails to bike rides, not to mention the treetop adventure, Go Ape, is a fantastic place for families to enjoy the great outdoors. The Forestry Commission also hosts a number of events throughout the year, including the popular annual concert, Forest Live.
Chester Zoo (11 miles)
A great family day out. The famous Chester Zoo has over 500 different species of animals within its extensive grounds - about half of which are endangered.
There’s lots to do, with attractions, exhibits, and of course, plenty of animals to discover, from cuddly koalas to ferocious tigers.
Grosvenor Museum (11 miles)
Learn all about Cheshire’s past, from inventive Romans to vicious Vikings! Check out the Roman coins, pottery and impressive tombstones, or visit the Period House, which has rooms dedicated to different significant periods in history, such as an Edwardian bathroom and a Stuart dining room.

Tatton Park (20 miles)
Tatton Park is one of the North West’s most popular heritage attractions spanning over 1,000 acres. Renowned for the herds of deer who have roamed on the parkland since 1290, Tatton Park welcomes over 800,000 visitors each year to explore the deer park, mansion, gardens, Old Hall, and rare breeds farm.
It also holds a number of popular events throughout the year including the famous Tatton Flower Show.
