Spring is a wonderful season to visit Cheshire, with nature trails in bloom, seasonal markets, food and drink experiences, and city-wide cultural events. Here are some great things happening nearby through February, March and April:

Snowdrop Walks at Rode Hall & Gardens

(1 Feb–1 Mar)

This much-loved annual walk features carpets of delicate snowdrops across the gardens at Rode Hall, making it one of the UK’s best spring floral experiences. Wander the paths amidst over 70 varieties of snowdrops and enjoy the scenic setting of the estate.

Best for: Gentle outdoor days, family walking, and fresh air exploration.

Chester Restaurant Week (16–22 Feb)

A highlight of the food calendar, Chester Restaurant Week invites locals and visitors to experience exclusive dishes, special menus and culinary creativity across Chester’s celebrated restaurants.

Tip: Great inspiration for dining before or after a walk in the countryside. Getting there: 25 minutes


Museum of the Moon at Chester Cathedral

(12 Feb–15 Mar)

This beautiful art installation by Luke Jerram brings a giant moon sculpture to Chester Cathedral a serene and striking experience for all ages.


Good Friday & Easter (29 Mar–1 Apr)

Easter weekend is packed with seasonal activities across Chester and Cheshire, from family trails to special markets. Keep an eye out for local Easter egg hunts and heritage events around historic sites.

Best for: Family stays and spring breaks planned around bank holidays.


Cheshire & North Wales, Food & Drink Festival

(3–5 Apr)

A firm favourite in the spring calendar, this festival at Chester Racecourse showcases regional produce, street food, artisan stalls and tasting experiences perfect for food lovers and visitors wanting a special weekend out.

Best for: Weekend food trips, tasting tours and discovering local producers.


Oulton Park Race Days (11 April)

Catch the thrill of live motorsport as the racing season gets underway. Spring highlights include the BRSCC Spring Race Day on 11 April and the British GT Championship weekend from 23–25 May, alongside further exciting race weekends throughout the season.

Early Spring Garden & Woodland Walks

As snowdrops fade into bluebells later in April, Cheshire’s woodlands and gardens come alive. Places like Arley Hall and Combermere Abbey offer colourful early spring walks through their historic green spaces.

Tip: Combine these with countryside walks or a relaxed lunch back at The Swan.
