There’s plenty of festive activities all around Cheshire at Christmas and it can be hard to decided which one to go to first. So, The Swan we have made a list and checked it twice to ensure you don’t miss out on any of the best festive fun Cheshire has to offer this Christmas! Our Top 3 Things To Do For Christmas In Tarporley & Cheshire
1. Chester Christmas markets
A real classic at Christmas time for any local is the annual Christmas markets in Chester city centre. This year, the markets are celebrating their 10th anniversary! Why not get into the festive feeling and explore over 70 stalls which feature local handmade crafts, a range of delicious homemade treats and a range of continental vendors serving the tastes of their country? Then, you can finish the evening off with a warmup of sweet hot chocolate for the kids and a creamy baileys for the adults. The great thing about the Christmas markets is they open from mid-November right through December, which gives you plenty of time to pay a visit! If you’re visiting from further afield, or just fancy making a real occasion of it, then why not check out our room availability? 2. Christmas at Bolesworth
After last year’s success, our neighbours over at Bolesworth are hosting their ‘Christmas at Bolesworth’ extravaganza again from December 2nd. By then, Bolesworth will be transformed into a festive wonderland, festooned in seasonal sparkle and yuletide cheer for a month of unforgettable winter magic. The main event features the Christmas lights trail where the historic castle will be transformed into a winter wonderland illuminated by more than 40,000 lights. There’s also plenty of interactive activities along the route including:

- Alpine lodge
- Champaign Island
- Lakeside Champaign Bar
- Fairground
- Meet the Reindeer
- Christmas Markets
With something for all the family to enjoy, Bolesworth is a must on the list this Christmas! We are only 20 minutes from Bolesworth, and many guests come to stay with us last year whilst enjoying the festive fun. 3. Santa’s Grotto & Elves’ Workshop
Get the kids riled up and ready for Christmas with a visit to Santa’s Grotto & Elves workshop, located at the Ice Cream Farm near Tattenhall. The kids can have a fantastic festive day starting with meeting Santa! Children can then choose their own gift from the Elves’ Emporium, before taking part in Christmas crafts and making reindeer food to take home for Christmas Eve. The excitement will start as soon as you enter, and don’t forget the two scoops of delicious Cheshire Farm Ice Cream served in a special festive mug which you can keep at the end! And let’s not forget the main event, our very own festive celebration this year which aims to give you MORE after two back-to-back Christmases that just didn’t feel the same! The Swan is introducing Swanderland to your Christmas agenda this year. Opening on Wednesday 23rd November, we have a jam-packed schedule which includes a Santa’s grotto in the Tarporley Room, wreath making workshops, the Great Tarporley Quiz, and a festive gift fayre to name a few!
